Protect Healthcare for Transgender Youth

On Friday, August 5, the Florida Board of Medicine will meet to discuss Surgeon General Ladapo's request for the Board to adopt a “standard of care” that opposes gender-affirming care for transgender youth — a move that would put the licenses of medical professionals at risk for providing life-saving care to transgender youth.

All of these heinous efforts are being fueled by a debunked report from the Florida Department of Health opposing gender-affirming care for youth.

Send your email: Tell the Florida Board of Medicine to reject efforts to end gender-affirming care for transgender youth.

This news comes during a shameful year when LGBTQ+ rights are being threatened by our state government. First, Gov. DeSantis signed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill in March, which censors teachers and targets LGBTQ+ students. Then in April, the Florida Department of Health released falsehoods about gender-affirming medical care for transgender adolescents.  In July, Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) held a hearing to deny coverage for all medically-necessary gender-affirming care for Medicaid recipients for both adolescents and adults who need gender-affirming care. Now, the Florida Board of Medicine is considering an end to gender-affirming care for all transgender youth.

Please also show up at the hearing in Dania Beach on August 5. Doors open at 7:00AM, the meeting starts at 8:00AM., and is expected to run for the full day. A press conference will be held at 9:00AM with Equality Florida.
