TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Senate Committee on Health Policy voted to pass Senate Bill 254 (SB 254) yesterday.
On Thursday, seven amicus briefs were filed with the Florida Supreme Court in the ongoing challenge against House Bill 5 (H.B. 5), a ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
The new law is an unnecessary and wasteful expansion of state prosecutorial power that could intimidate eligible voters with past convictions from exercising their right to vote.
Today, the Florida Legislature passed Senate Bill 6B, a bill that will create a program to inhumanely expel migrant families and people seeking asylum out of Florida.
The bill expands state prosecutorial power, intimidates eligible voters with previous felony convictions, and criminalizes them for honest voter eligibility mistakes.
This ongoing case challenges the map that divides neighborhoods along racial lines, packs Black and Hispanic voters, and undermines fair representation.
