Pensacola gives preliminary nod to expand civil rights for unmarried couples

Sara Latshaw, regional director for the American Civil Liberties Union, has been lobbying local officials for weeks to set up a such a system here.

Speaking after the meeting, Latshaw said she was “ecstatic” to be one step closer to this goal.

“I think that City Council did the right thing,” she said.
