Placing a Scarlet letter “NC” for non-citizens on all FL state-issued IDs.
Among other things, authorizes counties to require proof of lawful presence in the U.S. for borrowers seeking financial assistance. Requires immediate repayment and possible foreclosure if an unlawfully present noncitizen receives down payment assistance.
Repeals harmful legislation negatively impacting Florida’s immigrant community. Ensures that all Florida residents are able to access healthcare, employment, education, and driver’s licenses.
Increases criminal penalties for already illegal offenses from a misdemeanor up to 1 year in jail, to a third-degree felony and up to five years in prison. ACLU Florida opposes bills that unnecessarily increase sentence lengths and impose harsher penalties for actions that are already criminalized.
These bills make it harder for Floridians to thrive in state and local government employment, embolden bullies to create hostile work environments for LGBTQ individuals, and protect employees that are openly hostile to LGBTQ individuals from adverse employment actions.
