Immigration advocates today sent a letter to U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) calling on the agency to suspend all in-person check-ins at its Miramar facility in light of the spread of coronavirus in Broward County.

House and Senate ignored will of the people.

The ACLU of Florida Greater Miami Chapter today issued a letter to all City of Miami Beach leadership and its police command staff decrying the perceived disparity in treatment of African-American visitors by the Miami Beach Police Department during this year’s Spring Break in the time of COVID-19.

The coalition of civil rights advocacy organizations are calling on states, in a series of demand letters, to immediately develop evidence-based protocols and proactively plan the prevention and management of a COVID-19 outbreak.

We urge House representatives to oppose this bill and prevent our state employers from being forced to participate in one of the largest government surveillance programs in the Country.

This bill is unconstitutional, dangerous to minors, and contrary to the will of Floridians.

Floridians’ right to participate in direct democracy is protected by Florida’s constitution. Elected officials should strive to make it easier for the people to access democracy and government at all levels, not harder.
