The Florida House of Representatives today voted to pass SB 1890, a bill that would impose limits on contributions to ballot initiative sponsors. SB 1890 continues the Florida Legislature’s strategy of sabotaging the ballot initiative process via legislative means.

If passed into law, SB 90 would impose a series of restrictions on Floridians’ ability to vote by mail.

The Senate Rules Committee today voted to pass SB 90, which aims to restrict Floridians’ access to vote-by-mail. The bill creates unnecessary hurdles to voter access, such as criminalizing giving food and water to voters in line and imposing restrictions on secure vote-by-mail drop boxes.

The bill would prohibit transgender students from playing sports on teams that match their gender identity. It also discriminates against individuals on the basis of sex and because they are transgender, in violation of the United States Constitution and Title IX of the Civil Rights Act.

The House today approved House Bill 1 (HB 1), Gov. DeSantis’ anti-peaceful protest bill, despite hearing opposition from various community groups and Floridians across the state.
