ACLU of Florida to join march in Miami and Rally in Lakeland; More than 130 events nationwide demand “Dignity and Respect” for immigrants

MIAMI, FL – Immigrant rights organizations nationwide will continue escalating pressure on members of Congress to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill by holding more than 100 events nationwide on Oct. 5 as part of the “Day of Dignity and Respect” for all immigrant families.

In Florida, representatives from the ACLU of Florida will be participating in events in Miami and in Lakeland. In Miami, demonstrators will march from Jose Marti Park in Little Havana through historic “Calle 8” to the Cuban Memorial Plaza on SW 13th Ave. In Lakeland, a group will gather for a peaceful vigil at Lake Hollingsworth to call for Congressman Dennis Ross to lead in the House of Representatives to a vote on a path to citizenship for the 11 million people whose futures are threatened by the partisan gridlock in Congress.

Lakeland: Vigil for Dignity and Respect
From Saturday, October 5th at 8pm until Sunday, October 6th at 11:30 a.m.
Lake Hollingsworth, at the corner of Lake Hollingsworth Dr. & Clearview Ave
