During every Florida Legislative Session, the ACLU of Florida works to accomplish positive reforms for civil liberties and civil rights and defend every Floridians' rights. Our legislative priorities this year cover a broad array of civil liberties issues including, criminal justice reform, LGBT rights, immigrant's rights, reproductive rights, religious liberty, and voting rights.
Deletes current warrant requirement for use of drones to collect evidence at a crime scene and allows law enforcement to use drone technology to surveil any gathering of over 50 people.
Prohibiting children younger than 12 from being adjudicated delinquent, arrested, or charged with a crime.
Removes eligibility requirements relating to person's conduct before person's wrongful conviction and incarceration.
Revising requirements for the uniform statewide voter registration application and the acceptance of such applications.
Requiring the state attorney of each judicial circuit to establish a conviction integrity review unit and an independent review panel within the state attorney’s office.
Creating the Statewide Council on Prosecutorial Misconduct within the Department of Legal Affairs.
