Join the ACLU of Florida's Brevard County Chapter and WFIT for an important conversation on voting rights and what's at stake this November.
We're thrilled to welcome award-winning journalist Amy Goodman, who will moderate a conversation with Desmond Meade, president of the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition and Howard Simon, executive director of the ACLU of Florida, on Amendment 4, the initiative to restore the eligibility to vote to 1.4 million Floridians.
6 p.m. - Reception
7 p.m. - Panel discussion
Florida is only one of four states with this lifetime ban on voting in place. One of out ten Floridians are shut out of our democracy. It's wrong to exclude people who have completed their sentences and paid their debts from participating fully in our democracy. Join us on October 20 to get engaged in this citizen-led initiative and hear from Desmond Meade and Howard Simon about why we need to pass Florida's Voting Restoration Amendment 4 this November.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, or $15 at the door, and students are free with valid I.D. (if seats are available.) A special reception with Amy Goodman, Desmond Meade and Howard Simon will begin before the conversation at 6 p.m. and includes reserved seating. Tickets are available for the reception for $45.
