Jacksonville is a diverse city filled with hardworking people, but not all of them are protected under the law. When it comes to earning a living, having a place to live, or being served by a business or government office, no one should be discriminated against.

On Tuesday, February 14, the Jacksonville City Council will vote on the Jacksonville Human Rights Ordinance (HRO), establishing Jacksonville's anti-discrimination policy, which will penalize discrimination against any person in Jacksonville - based on race, age, sex, disability, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or military status.

The #JaxHRO cleared its second committee vote—but they included an amendment that would treat cases of LGBT discrimination differently, exempting employers with fewer than 50 employees. Without this ordinance, people could be victims of discrimination with little or no remedies. Tell your city councilors to reject the amendment once and for all and pass comprehensive protections for all people.
