The Florida Legislative Session ends this week. We need to stop SB 168 and HB 257, two anti-immigrant bills that will endanger immigrants, people of color, and every community in our state.
Senate Bill 168 and House Bill 527 will be heard for a full vote this week. Our best chance is to stop this in the Senate. Call your state senator and ask them to oppose SB 168.
Suggested call message:
"Hello, my name is _________. I am calling to ask Senator _____ to oppose Senate Bill 168. SB 168 would be devastating for all Floridians. If this bill passes, the State would force local city and county governments to spend their already limited resources on immigration enforcement, which is the job of the federal government. Local governments should decide how local resources are spent and local law enforcement should spend their time serving local communities—not on enforcing federal immigration law. This bill would make Florida bear the costs of ICE’s negligent deportation system. It would force local cops to do ICE’s job at taxpayer expense. Please tell Senator _______ to stand with Florida’s immigrant community and publicly oppose SB 168."
