Join our Broward Chapter for its 2020 annual meeting titled, "Election Security and Voter Suppression: Voting in Florida."
Refreshments will be served. Board elections will run from 11:30 am through 4 pm.
The keynote address will be delivered by Ion Sancho, who served seven terms as Leon County Supervisor of Elections from 1988 through 2016. Sancho has had a storied career protecting the citizens right to vote and fighting for effective and verifiable voting technology. He adopted a hand marked optical scan voting system in 1992. Florida required the statewide use of this system in 2007. He introduced early voting to Florida in 1994, becoming mandatory in the state in 2002. The Florida Supreme Court named Sancho as the technical advisor to the ill-fated 2000 election recount, and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for the 2007 HBO documentary "Hacking Democracy."
There will be a Q&A following his presentation.
We look forward to seeing you there. Register today to let us know that you're coming!
