Cultivating Communities for Immigrant Justice in Florida

Immigrants' Rights Toolkit

When the government denies due process and other basic legal rights to anyone, everyone’s rights are at risk. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are rights guaranteed to all people in the United States through the Constitution, yet, we know that these rights and other privileges have been historically and systematically denied to immigrants, women, people of color, and other marginalized communities.

Florida is one of the most diverse states in our country, home to immigrants from all over the world. We know this much: our communities are stronger and better with the contributions of immigrants. However, when our local and state government denies due process and other basic legal rights to our immigrant community, everyone’s rights are at risk. We must protect the dignity and humanity of all people in our community.

Twenty percent of Floridians are immigrants, and it is critical that every person in our state, regardless of their status, be able to live, work, go to school, raise children, and travel without fear of violence, harassment and discrimination. That’s why it is time to make sure that our communities take local action to keep immigrants and their families safe.

These resources are designed to help you make your community a place of equal dignity and opportunity for all.
