Plaintiffs, Defendants and Attorneys in NAACP v. Katherine Harris et al.

Plaintiffs

The class action lawsuit was brought on behalf of the Florida State Conference of Branches of the N.A.A.C.P. as well as a number of voters who were victims of election irregularities of one form or another that interfered with their right to vote.

Defendants

Named defendants include Katherine Harris, Secretary of the State of Florida, Clay Roberts, Director of the Florida Division of Elections, along with election supervisors in Miami-Dade, Broward, Duval, Hillsborough, Leon, Orange, Volusia counties. Also a named party in this suit is Database Technologies Inc., the Georgia firm hired by the state to compare information on the state's central voter file with information available in other computer databases to prepare a list of registered voters who were ineligible to vote.

Attorneys

The case is being handled by a legal team consisting of attorneys from the N.A.A.C.P., the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the ACLU of Florida, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, the Legal Defense and Education Fund (LDF), People for the American Way (PFAW), and the Advancement Project.
