Our Issues

 

The issues we are currently focused on are:

1. Religious freedom: working to make sure that every Florida citizen can worship as he or she pleases (or not at all), without the government intervening in our religious lives; and working to make sure that government heeds the Bill of Rights, as well as the Florida Constitution which states:

"There shall be no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting or penalizing the free exercise thereof. Religious freedom shall not justify practices inconsistent with public morals, peace or safety. No revenue of the state or any political subdivision or agency thereof shall ever be taken from the public treasury directly or indirectly in aid of any church, sect, or religious denomination or in aid of any sectarian institution."

2. Working to help Florida's 700,000+ felons get back their rights (their right to vote, and their right to hold state licenses, etc.) by working with them under the recently passed (2007) law.

3. We are also involved in assuring the safe and proper use of Tasers by local law enforcement agencies, and the issue of racial profiling in our area.
