The ACLU is freedom's watchdog: since 1920, we have been working in the courts, legislatures and local communities to defend the individual rights and personal freedoms guaranteed to us by the Bill of Rights.

We are a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization.

The ACLU is neither liberal nor conservative, Republican nor Democrat.
Our only mission is to keep the promise of the Bill of Rights alive for all Americans.
