- Bruce Kevin Bates - The ACLU of Florida filed a federal lawsuit on Feb. 10, 2010 against the City of West Palm Beach, West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, and CityPlace Community Redevelopment District on behalf of Bruce Kevin Bates, a street artist who was unlawfully prohibited from using a public area to create his art.
- ACLU Sues Clermont on Behalf of Local Auto Shop Owner - The American Civil Liberties Union of Florida filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Clermont on behalf of local businessman Wayne E. Weatherbee, owner of Bee’s Auto located in Clermont. According to the lawsuit, City officials have unconstitutionally targeted Weatherbee, attempting to suppress his free speech.
- Cynthia Nixon Joins ACLU for Adoption Campaign Kick-off Party / 2 of 2 - Cynthia Nixon, acclaimed television and movie star, joined the ACLU of Florida on Saturday, January 9, 2010 to kick-off the ACLU's Campaign to End Florida's Ban on Adoption by Gays and Lesbians. The event, held at the Shore Club in South Beach, drew over 350 people on the coldest night in Miami since 1974.

- St. Pete Drug Law Reform Event - Everyone in Florida is affected by the human, social, and financial costs of the "War on Drugs." Florida deserves a more sensible solution to drug policy.
Event speakers included Nora Callahan, Executive Director of the November Coalition; Deborah Fleischaker, FAMM Director of State and Legislative Affairs; and Courtenay Strickland, ACLU of Florida Director of Public Policy.
- Jacksonville Pride 2009 - After Jacksonville's Pride was cancelled, ACLU of Florida Regional Director Benétta Standly partnered with the ACLU of Florida's Northeast Chapter to put on Pride in downtown Jacksonville, and it was a success!
- Sex Offender Shantytown - Miami-Dade County's 2,500-foot restriction on residency for sex offenders has led to a public safety crisis with over 70 individuals living in squalor under a bridge on Biscayne Bay. The ACLU has a lawsuit pending against the County, purpoting that the 2,500-foot law preempts the State's 1,000-foot restriction, which would make it easier for offenders to find housing, and make our community safer.

- ACLU & Amnesty International Call for Closure of Guantánamo - ACLU of Florida Joins Amnesty International USA at Bayfront Park, Miami, to unveil "The Cell" in Miami to shed light on the injustices in Guantánamo, and call on the U.S. Government to close Guantánamo and restore Habeas Corpus. Speakers: Larry Cox, Executive Director, AIUSA; Howard Simon, Executive Director, ACLU-FL; Neal Sonnet, Chair of the ABA's Task Force on Treatment of Enemy Combatantsand and an observer of the Guantánamo military commissions
- Rights Restoration Day of Action - The ACLU of Florida, along with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, brought over 250 activists to Tallahassee on April 1, 2008 to call for meaningful reform of Florida's broken clemency system.
- Dixie County Ten Commandments - Unconstitutional governmental display of the Ten Commandments in front of the Dixie County, FL County Courthouse. The ACLU of Florida challenged the display on behalf of local members in February of 2007.

- Challenge to Florida's Anti-Gay Relationship Initiative - The ACLU has filed a brief before the Florida Supreme Court on behalf of six same-sex couples who charge that an anti-gay voter initiative threatening protections for the families of same-sex couples violates the Florida Constitution.
- Come Out Pensacola Community Fair and Celebration. - Come Out Pensacola almost didn't happen when the Pensacola City Council voiced opposition and asked the city attorney to find a way to stop it. ACLU was there and reminded the city council of a document called the Constitution and Bill of Rights. In the end the city council did the right thing and the community fair went on complete with protesters both for and against, entertainment, vendors and the ACLU. It was a great day for free speech.
- 2005 Nelson Poynter Award Dinner in Boca Raton - The ACLU of Florida honored Congressman Alcee Hastings at its annual Nelson Poynter Civil Liberties Award Dinner on May 7 in Boca Raton. The evening featured a keynote address by Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold, the sole member of the U.S. Senate to vote against the controversial USA Patriot Act.
