ACLU Miami Chapter Elects New Board Members

An orthodontist, a real estate developer, the former Miami Arena general manager and an expert in Latin American politics are among the newly-elected board members of the Greater-Miami Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Florida.
The new board members, recently elected to serve a one-year term on the Board of Directors, are: Eulene Chillar, former teacher and registration chairperson for the local Democratic Power, Juan Carlos Espinosa, Director of the Felix Varela Center for Cubdan Studies at St. Thomas University, Robert A. Franklin, former arena manager and current chairman of a non-profit group that gives away event tickets to the needy, Valeria Jonas, appellate defense attorney, George Lindeman, a Manhattan native who is currently redeveloping timeworn office buildings along Biscayne Boulevard, Richard H. Rosichan, a research consultant who formerly worked in public library administration, and William E. "Bill" Silver, an orthodontist who serves as chairman of the Coral Gables Board of Adjustment.
The following individuals were re-elected for another board term: Jeanne Baker, Javier Bray, Gwenn Calloway, Errol Clark, Terry Coble, Julia Dawson, John de Leon, Linda Horkitz, Anne Jackaway, Louis Jepeway, Jr., Louise Jeroslow, Frank Kaiser, Dr. Abe Lavender, Gary Lees, Richard Loerky, Trish Meyer, Stanley M. Pred, Lida Rodriguez-Taseff, Larry S. Roberts, Robert Rosen, Virginia Rosen, Arthur Rosenberg, Lewis J. Serbin, Ray Taseff, Raul E. de Velasco, Jo-anne Ventevogel, Benjamin Waxman, and Gwen Wurm.
The Miami Chapter of the ACLU of Florida, which covers Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, also re-elected all of last year's officers: John de Leon as President, Terry Coble as First Vice-Chair, Lida Rodriguez-Taseff as Second Vice Chair, Larry Roberts, as Treasurer, and Ray Taseff as Legal Panel Chair.
The ACLU of Florida is a private, non-profit, non-partisan membership organization dedicated to defending civil liberties and constitutional rights. The ACLU, a nationwide membership of 300,000 with more than 10,000 members in Florida, works to preserve constitutional freedoms and the Bill of Rights through litigation, legislation and education.
