Broward: The chapter is co-sponsoring a workshop, along with State Representative Chris Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, to assist ex-offenders in applying for the restoration of their voting rights. Jacksonville: The ACLU chapter is jointly sponsoring a panel discussion along with Americans United and NOW entitled "What's Around The Corner In Our Florida Legislature?" from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Jacksonville (Deerwood) Southeast Public Library, 10599 Deerwood Park Blvd. (Gate Pkwy off Butler Blvd.) For more information, contact Ken Hurley via phone at 904-396-5242 or e-mail at ACLUjax@Mediaone.NET

Palm Beach: The chapter will honor longtime treasurer Ren Rieur for his commitment over the past 25 years to civil liberties at the Harriet Glasner Freedom Award Dinner. The annual event will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:45 p.m Oct. 30. Pinellas: The chapter is co-sponsoring a workshop, along with Senator Lesley "Les" Miller Jr., to assist ex-offenders in applying for the restoration of their voting rights. The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 10 at the Lakewood United Church of God & Christ, 2601 54th Ave., South (on the corner of 26th Street and 54th Avenue) in St. Petersburg. Tallahassee: The chapter is organizing a fund- raising event for November. Exact date, time and location TBA. The group's regularly- scheduled board and legal panel meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at The Warehouse, 706 W. Tampa: The annual meeting will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by the formal meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at the USF Marshall Center (university center), the Campus View East (The USF Club), 4th Floor, the University of South Florida (USF), Tampa Campus. (The Marshall Center is at the corner of Holly & Cedar Drives on the USF Tampa Campus.)
