2001 National Biennial
More than 500 civil libertarians and ACLU staff members from across the country will gather at ACLU's 2001 Biennial Conference. The event will be from June 13-16 at the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, Florida.
Ira Glasser, who will retire July 1 as Executive Director, will bid a final farewell to ACLU staff, board members and supporters during a "State of the Union" address on June 14. Newly-appointed ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero, currently with the Ford Foundation, will also address attendees at the conference, which will include workshops on organizational development and civil liberties issues.
A highlight of the conference will be A Taste of Miami, hosted by the affiliate and the Miami and Broward Chapters, featuring salsa music, food and drink from 7 to 9 p.m. June 14 at the Starfish club on the Beach.
The conference registration fee is $150. To register, call the state office at (305) 576-2337.
