In Memoriam — Allen J. Lukehart, Esq.
Allen J. Lukehart, Esq., a longtime member and contributor of the ACLU of Florida, passed away June 29th from complications from a heart attack. He was 54.
A lifelong defender of civil liberties, Lukehart was an active member who frequently participated in the ACLU of Florida's Lawyers Conference, an annual gathering in Key West of attorneys, members and supporters.
"He was passionate about the underdog and was rabid about separation of church and state issues, especially as they applied to the use of public school facilities," said longtime friend Warren Keiner, a former member of the Central Florida Chapter's Board of Directors.
Lukehart worked as a mediator for the Ohio Casuality Insurance Co., and is a past member of the Central Florida chapter's Board of Directors. He also served as past chairman of the group's Legal Panel and Intake Committee. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, his sister, Janet, and his parents.
